Compacting factor apparatus is used to determine workability of fresh concrete. The compacting factor is the ratio between the weight of the partially compacted concrete and the weight of the fully compacted concrete.

It consists of 2 conical hoppers placed on top of each other and a cylindrical collection container underneath. Under the funnels, there are trap doors that allow the fresh concrete to fall freely. The hoppers and the mould are mounted onto a rigid steel frame and are easily removable for cleaning.
